Singapore managed to attract two major musicians to hold concerts in the country, namely Taylor Swift with ‘The Eras Tour’ and Coldplay with ‘Music of the Spheres World Tour’. The concert series of the two musicians had a huge impact on Singapore, including lifting the economy.
Launching from Forbes, Saturday (9/21/2024) thanks to the concert series of these two global musicians, the Singapore economy can grow positively for two consecutive quarters.
In addition, positive sentiment over this economic growth also overall lifted the country’s stock market. This condition made the wealth of two-thirds of Singapore’s wealthiest people increase quite dramatically.
It is said that the series of economic growth thanks to the concerts of these two artists made the collective net worth of the 50 richest conglomerates in the country increase by more than 10%, to US$ 195 billion or equivalent to Rp 2,954.25 trillion.
Regardless, the position of Singapore’s richest person 2024 is still occupied by the co-founder of Meta (Facebook’s parent company), Eduardo Saverin. He has been a Singaporean citizen since renouncing his US citizenship in 2012 ahead of Facebook’s IPO.
Managing to stay at the top for the second year in a row, Saverin is estimated to have a wealth of US$ 29 billion or IDR 439.35. The amount of his wealth was recorded to have increased by US$ 13 billion thanks to the increase in the value of Meta shares.
Then in second place is conglomerate Robert & Philip Ng, owners of property giant Far East Organization. Although the value of their combined wealth has decreased slightly, the two conglomerate brothers are recorded to still pocket US$ 14.4 billion or Rp 218.16 trillion.
Meanwhile, property tycoon Kwek Leng Beng purchased the Hilton Paris Opera hotel. This purchase, which was made ahead of the Olympics, succeeded in making Kwek move up one place on the Forbes list of Singapore’s richest people, namely in fourth position with a wealth of US $ 11.5 billion or Rp 174.22 trillion.
